As they are members of the Federation of Holistic Therapists you can be assured that they follow the FHT's high standards of best practice and that any treatment you have will be from a highly qualified, professional therapist. All Members, Fellows and Student Members of FHT are required to follow a strict Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. This can be summarised as:·

  • To act in the best interests of  clients and treat them with respect 
  • To take responsibility for their actions
  • To respect other practitioners and health professionals
  • To practise only within the limits of their competence
  • To ensure their behaviour does not damage the profession's reputation
  • To observe confidentiality
  • To practise within the law
  • To maintain high standards of hygiene
  • To maintain and develop their knowledge and skills

Making a complaint

If you believe that an FHT therapist has breached any of these rules then you may make a formal complaint to the FHT.
Complaint Procedures:- Any complaints regarding the failure of an FHT Member to uphold these standards must be made in writing to the FHT Membership Office addressed for the attention of the Chief Executive.
The complainant must give full details of the alleged breach. The complaint can be made by letter or e-mail but a full mailing address must be given. You will be sent a full copy of the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice on request. Please note that full details of your complaint will be made known to the therapist so that they can answer the allegations.
