INFORMATION
Welcome to the Wigan, Leigh, Rainford and St Helens local group. The group provides opportunity to hear talks, see demonstrations on a wide range of topics by fellow therapists and knowledgeable people and professional speakers. A great evening and chance to network and swap ideas. Our meetings are open to everyone, FHT Members, non-members, general public other therapists, Complementary Practitioners and students. Come along and meet other like minded people.
I believe our network provides invaluable support for therapists who often work in isolation. The group meetings gives all therapists local to me the opportunity to network, share concerns and successes, and attend interesting talks, it’s also an important way of acquiring CPD points.

Quite a few of our members have asked for first aid. I will share with you how you can attain a certificate of First Aid (online) but our Guest speaker is Dave Cook.
Dave Cook is from the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and has kindly agreed to come and speak to us about first aid/CPR and his work with the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
Dave has been in the team for 14 years and attended hundreds of call outs. He is a "Casualty Carer" which is a very advanced medic qualification involving 4 exams. He is also a qualified CPR instructor / assessor and a ROLE certifier - ROLE stands for Recognition Of Life Extinct - ie He can officially say if someone is deceased.
Bolton MRT are a Mountain Rescue Team covering area of Darwen in the North down to Manchester Airport in the South, and Wigan in the West across to Bury in the East. In this area are several call out hotspots - Rivington, Belmont, Winter Hill, Entwistle Wayoh and Jumbles reservoirs, and Darwen Tower. The team has around 50 call out members available 24 / 7 with 6 vehicles and 2 boats. Their HQ is at Ladybridge Hall on Chorley New Road in Bolton, and they have vehicles also garaged at Bolton Central and Bolton North Fire Stations. The team is entirely self-funded.
I hope you will all join me in giving him a warm welcome.
